Latino Gathering in Chatham-Kent: Building Community
Tamal or empanada? Cheese stick or mote with chicharron? Agua de Jamaica, mate or coffee? Salsa, merengue or bachata? What's more Latino than this?
It was the introduction to our first Latin meeting 2025.
On January 28, the Latin community of Chatham-Kent gathered in a warm meeting where roots, culture and brotherhood were the protagonists. A big thank you to Adult Language and Learning and especially to Magdiel Hoste who welcomed us with outstanding hospitality, we had a space to get to know each other, enjoy coffee and connect.
Most of the attendees were new members of the CK community, who found in this gathering a first step toward joining a community that embraces them with open arms. We shared the main goal of this initiative: getting to know each other, supporting one another, and strengthening the Latino presence in Chatham-Kent.
Amid lively conversations, a cup of coffee, and many laughs, the idea to organize a Mother's Day celebration emerged as the first community event of the year. Because when Latinos come together, we not only share but also build and celebrate.
We said our goodbyes with a warm hug, the kind that carries both warmth and emotion. ¡A lo Latino, carajo!
Because this is just the beginning, and together, we’ll make our community shine brighter in Chatham-Kent.
Would you like to join the next meetings ? Stay tuned, because this is just the start!
